This is an example of what I expect from men – to be there for their babies and partners; care, love and be involved in their lives.
Their faces were not easy to paint. I sit very close to the painting and look very carefully at the picture while I paint (it is a picture I took of my husband and my third child). So after hours of painting I am exhausted (but happy)…
The blue colour that I used is transparent so it was hard to get it darker. You will see that in some places I added black to make it dark.
I must say that if I would look at my husband from that distance I would never see all of the details. However, I enjoy working on figures and exploring the shapes of the human body. I also liked doing the sling, it looks real to me.
