My Story
I was born with a condition called Achromatopsia.
My vision is different from most people because I am fully color-blind,
extremely sensitive to light, and have poor vision.
I see the world in an unusual way.
I was born in Israel to an American father and a Swiss mother, both of whom made Aliyah.
My husband, three children, and I have lived in South Africa and the United States, spending three years in each country as part of my husband's emissary work for the Jewish Agency, bringing Israeli culture to communities there.
People are often surprised to hear that despite my poor vision, I have played basketball, climbed mountains, worked as a financial analyst, and created art
איך אור יכול להשאיר אותנו באפלה?
נולדתי עם תסמונת גנטית נדירה שגורמת לרגישות קיצונית לאור, קוצר ראייה ועיוורון צבעים מוחלט.
עם השנים, למרות המגבלות, פיתחתי שפה אישית שמבוססת על הדרך בה אני תופסת את המציאות – דרך מסנני האור, הצל, והקווים שהעין מצליחה לקלוט.
במקומות מוארים במיוחד, הראייה שלי נפגעת – אני רואה מעט פרטים, פחות עומק, ולעיתים אף מתקשה לזהות את פניהם של הקרובים אליי. זוהי חוויה שבה האור מחולל אי-בהירות, כאב ואיבוד כיוון.
מקבץ העבודות Bright Darkness נולד מתוך הרצון להמחיש את החוויה הזו – את הסינוור שחודר לכל פינה בחיי, גם ברמה הרגשית והאישית ביותר.
את העבודות יצרתי בציור דיגיטלי, והן הודפסו על נייר בגדלים שונים. רבות מהן בשחור-לבן או בגוונים מונוכרומטיים,עם רקע כמעט אחיד, מתוך בחירה מודעת לשקף את האופן בו אני רואה את העולם – ללא צבע, ועומק, אך עם מרקם ומשמעות רגשית.
אני מזמינה אתכם להציץ לרגע מבעד לעיניי – לא כדי להבין איך אני רואה, אלא כדי להרגיש איך אפשר לראות אחרת.
אלו לא רק עבודות על אור וחושך – אלא קריאה להתבוננות מחודשת, להזדהות, לחמלה, ולשיחה על גבולות הראייה – הפיזית והאנושית.
